I love this elegant look on Jane - so beautiful. Often when I photograph people I am thinking to myself "Okay, how would this work in 'real life'/where could you wear this look" (and in the case of Anna Dello Russo I am thinking "Damn Skippy. ONLY Anna can pull this off!"). Coming up to party season (and winter weddings), I thought Jane's look would be inspiration for when you need a "party" outfit but want something you can wear again (even to work). A full black skirt + lace trimmed top  are both pieces you could wear separately during the day, depending on what you pair them with. I think a party dress is a lot trickier to make wearable during the day (unless you are Anna of course!).

I can almost feel the heat (despite it still being sweater weather in the UK!) on the day I took these photos in Paris in early October last year. It was soooo hot.....and we had all packed for cooler, Autumn weather. Anne-Catherine got it right though - a sheer oversized shirt paired with a cute pair of shorts and loafers. Chic in the heat.

p.p.s. With all the time I have spent in the car over the last few weeks I can tell you that from Bordeaux to San Sebastian, Álava to Bidderay, Lampeter to Aberaeron everyone LOVES "Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye (and featuring Kimbra). It is played everywhere! Fun fact: In 2010 I was wandering around Melbourne with my camera and randomly photographed Kimbra and her friend Devin. They were actually out shopping for a dress for Kimbra's first video clip (she ended up wearing Gail Sorronda)! Weird how you meet people in life and then they become super famous :)

A simple summer maxi dress to slip on when it is unbearably hot.....as it was in Paris last September/October during fashion week. Accessorise with a simple pendant, sandals, sunscreen, a slick of eyeliner and a smoosh of tinted lip cream (nothing that will smudge or run in the heat). I love Fresh sugar lip treatment in rose (which I always stock up on when I visit NYC).

It is always lovely to come across photographs from previous seasons that seem just perfect for now. My friend Emilie (who is Canadian but lives in Paris) looks so pretty and fresh in her boxy top, detachable collar and up and er, down, skirt (I have no idea what these skirts are called* so I am just going to go with "up and down" for now!).
